Process & Analytical
The Process and Analytical academy (P&A) provides training for process engineers and operators, as well as laboratory training for chemists and laboratory technicians. Equipped with our state-of-the-art facilities to fulfil various training requirements for both process and analytical, the academy is committed to develop job ready workforce for the oil and gas industries, particularly the PETRONAS Operating Units (OPUs) as well as other industries globally.
Various equipment are utilised to facilitate the training programme and to fulfil learners’ needs and requirements. For Process trade, there are distillation columns, process control training plants, Distributed Control System (DCS), wastewater treatment plants, and training simulators whereas the Analytical Laboratory is equipped with Gas Chromatograph (GC), Inductive Coupled Plasma (ICP), crude and water analysis devices.
Since 2011, P&A has been conferred by the Environment Institute of Malaysia (EiMAS) as a recognised Training Provider for wastewater treatment programme, i.e. the Certified Environmental Professional in the Operation of Industrial Effluent Treatment Systems (Biological Process) (CePIETSO-BP).

Distillation and DCS Practice
This course will explain and demonstrate to participants with regards to Distillation and DCS Plant Operation involved in a Plant Operation. Execution of hands-on activities will provide a deeper understanding of the subjects presented. Furthermore, activities which cover 2 multi disciplines i.e. Process and Instrumentation will be highlighted and demonstrated. The newly built INSTEP Crude Distillation Unit (CDU), live and transparent Distillation Packing and Tray Colum together with DCS System will be used extensively in ensuring the activities can be explained and demonstrated in a systematic manner. A ratio of 30: 70 (theory: practical) will be emulated throughout this course. This approach makes this course unique and the only one which is available in the current market.
Advanced Distillation
This programme provides participants with knowledge and work experience on Distillation and DCS in a plant operation. The use of live and transparent Distillation Packing, Tray Column and Foxboro DCS System will enrich the participants’ understanding of the subject matter. The 30:70 (theory:practical) ratio makes the programme unique and one of its kind in the current market.
Wastewater Treatment System
This programme provides participants with basic knowledge and skills on Wastewater Effluent Treatment System to ensure the optimisation of the system operations. Among the contents covered in this course are the impurities in wastewater, impacts of wastewater on the environment, methodologies of treating wastewater effluent, and safe reliable operation including system preparations, sample collecting activities, testing and interpreting the results by using the wastewater effluent treatment pilot plant.
WHO WILL BENEFIT
Process and Utilities Technicians and those who are involved in Plant Process Operation.
